Placements at Wanslea

Work placement opportunities

Wanslea offers work placements in community services across Perth and regional Western Australia. We can provide placements in the following areas:

  • Early childhood education and care
  • Social work
  • Community services
  • Allied health
  • Research and evaluation
  • Other projects related to service implementations and improvement, including quality and strategy development
  • Administration and corporate services
  • Student work experience (Must be 18+. Only available at Wanslea Early Learning and Development centres)

How to apply for a placement

1. Enquire about a placement

Speak to the relevant person at your place of study about securing a work placement at Wanslea. They will tell you about any protocols in place that they need to follow. If there is no referral process between Wanslea and your college, school, university or registered training organisation. Please email volunteering@wanslea.org.au

2. Create and send
your Curriculum Vitae

Prepare a Curriculum Vitae (CV) that demonstrates your existing skills, experiences, and interest in a placement at Wanslea. Follow the instructions from your institution or Wanslea’s Student Unit Coordinator to submit your CV. 

3. Prepare for and attend your interview

If you are invited for an interview at Wanslea, please dress professionally, arrive promptly and prepare any questions you wish to ask about student placements. We will notify you if you are successful in securing a placement at Wanslea.

What to expect from your placement

Each placement is slightly different from the next, as we consider your course requirements and learning needs.

Activites you might undertake:
  • Student placement induction program
  • Cultural education program
  • Directly supervised practice with children and families across our programs
  • Planning and delivery of early intervention support
  • Child assessment and observation
  • Research and evaluation
  • Lesson planning and delivery
  • Project work
  • Facilitating groups
  • Incursions and community activities
