It's been a big week of celebrations across Wanslea for NAIDOC Week
Our Kalgoorlie team kicked of NAIDOC Week celebrations with a community event and NAIDOC opening ceremony at Centennial Park on 2 July, followed by a Family Fun Day at PCYC on 4 July.
In Northam, the team had a great time celebrating NAIDOC at the BKB Centre in Northam with local families and other community services organisations on 4 July.
On 6 July, our Leadership team and Scarborough office came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week with a lunch, followed by our Reconciliation Action Plan meeting and a screening of our pre-recorded Elder yarning session, where we interviewed W General Manager Cultural Safety and Partnerships Robyn Collard and Regional Operations Manager Rodney Carpio – who are both Aboriginal Elders
During the lunch, Wanslea CEO Jo Sadler recognised Robyn Collard, who is not only part of Wanslea’s Executive team, but is a community Elder, Mum and Nanna to many grandchildren, who juggles all of her responsibilities in her career, family life and cultural obligations
“I know I am often in awe of how Robyn does this, but she does it with grace and always being present and engaged. When Robyn speaks, she does so with wisdom, clarity and always with kindness. On behalf of Wanslea, today we recognise you Robyn and thank you for everything you do for us.” ~ Jo Sadler.
