If you are struggling to keep your children safe at home, we can help.

The Intensive Family Support Service is designed to maintain your children's safety while helping them stay connected to their family, community, and culture. It is available to families in Northam and surrounds.

Take control to keep your family together

Help your family stay together with our support. We can help you build on your skills as a parent, create a plan for your children’s future and establish a safe, nurturing home environment. You can significantly improve your children's health, safety, and wellbeing and set them up for a bright future.

The Intensive Family Support Service is delivered in partnership with the Kaata-Koorliny Employment & Enterprise Development Aboriginal Corporation (KEEDAC).

How to access support

1. Understand your eligibility

This service is only for parents and carers, where the Department of Communities has concerns about their children's safety and wellbeing. To access this service, you must be referred to us by the Department of Communities and remain an open case.

2. Request a referral

If you feel like you, or someone you are working with could benefit from this service, please contact the family's case manager at the Department of Communities or Wanslea's Northam office to discuss the possibility of a referral.

3. Get support

If you are referred to us via the Department of Communities, you'll be fully supported by our CaseWorker and Family Support Worker who will be there as part of your team. They will work with you to build upon your strengths to keep your family together.

Testimonials
"Before working with Wanslea it was hard to talk to anyone, I couldn't ask for help. Wanslea were there and a voice for me, to help me remember and have some control. They gave me direction and helped me to figure things out and helped me with routines."

"Life was hard, I was up and down smoking and fighting with J. I would go off when my kids were taken away and they would have to inject me. Wanslea helped a lot, they were supportive and there when I needed help when I lost my dad, they listened to what I was going through. I would recommend Wanslea."

"Wanslea has supported this family through supervised access visits and now look forward to the children returning to the family home in the next week. [They] have been requested by mum to continue to assist her over the next 6 months."

"This family continues to seek support while adjusting to a new set [of] circumstances and working towards the goal of permanent reunification. Whilst working in collaboration with the family I have had the privilege of witnessing the families continued perseverance and endurance resulting in progress being made in the reunification process." -
